Christmas Craftyness!

Here are a few of the things that I've been working on for Christmas this year.

The girls in the high school B-study that I lead decided to exchange hand made presents. I decoupaged the cover of the journal. The tree was cut out by hand, the birds were cut using a Martha Stewart punch and modified with scissors, and the quote is stamped.

The quote, "I am not what I once was," comes from a Latin phrase. I read an article in the New York Times online about university classes being taught in a prison. This quote in Latin was on the wall.

Under the tree is the gift that I gave Matt. It is six bottles of wine and a bottle of cologne. Each one has a hand made tag specifying when the bottle can be opened, such as "First Snow" and "While Planning a Trip." The cologne, Acqua di Gio, which smells like goodness and heaven and puppy dog tails, has a tag that says, "Whenever I want." "I" referring, of course, to me!

Thanks to the great guy at the local wine shop, Divino, for picking out all of the delicious wines for Matt.

That is just a few of the crafts from this Christmas, but I have already had some inspiration for next Christmas. I can't tell you what it is, but I will give you a clue -- pineapples!

The Countdown is ON!

3 days left!!!

Word-for-Word Directions to the Moutain House

The following directions are what were sent to us by the property manager. You can also click on a link to a map in an earlier post called "Address for the Wedding."

From 1-70, Take the Frisco exit (#203) and proceed south on US Highway 9. Staying on HWY 9, you will go through the town of Frisco, continuing 9 miles south to the town of Breckenridge. Continue through all the lights in Breckenridge (HWY 9 is Main Street in Breckenridge). From the last light in Breckenridge (Boreas Pass/HWY 9 intersection, Conoco gas station on the right), you will continue straight (south) on HWY 9, approximately six miles. Just past Skiers Edge Lodge (on the left) turn left onto Quandry Road. Go about 500 hundred yards to an intersection — stay right — onto Range Road. Continue on Range Road around the curve to the second road on the left — turn left onto this raod. The driveway has a ravine and the far side, and is just past a home that sits close to the road. It is the only home on the left side that is not close to the road.

297 SCR 628, Breckenridge, CO. 80424.

Please call us or the house (970-547-5896) if you get turned around!

Much love!

You are on your own, kid...

We have LOTS of stuff going on at the mountain house over the course of the weekend -- meals, games, jam sessions, s'more making, hot tubs, galore. However, what we do not have is LUNCH. You are on your own for lunches on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Anyone chilling at the mountain house around lunch time any of those days is welcome to eat snacks and leftovers from dinner, but there will not be a lunch time spread provided.

However, on Sunday, our family will bringing a few assorted snacks over to the house during the late morning for anyone staying as guests in the house or anyone who comes over to the house a bit early to set up for the ceremony.

Other than that, anyone who gets hungry mid-day, we welcome you to graze the snacks and leftovers at the house or head into Breckenridge for a lunch-time adventure!

For more details about the SCHEDULE for the weekend or WHAT YOU CAN BRING to help out, please see the previous few posts.

Love you!

Oh, the sharing!

As you are packing (and I know that many of you have your bags packed and ready, counting down the minutes...oh wait, that's Carolyn), please throw in a few things to share for the weekend:

  • Bottle of your favorite wine -- yum
  • Six pack of your favorite beer -- Matt loves most any kind
  • Games -- Board games, Wii games, Scene It (Bring it on, Wes and Jeremy; Carolyn is ready for you!)
  • Snacks -- Carolyn loves any combo of salty and sweet (chocolate covered pretzels: YUM)
  • Cameras -- We want lots of great photos of the weekend...ummm, Kimbal, HT, Esther, Jeff, and Dave, that might mean you.
  • Instruments -- for our Saturday afternoon jam session. Guitars, voices, banjos, pianos and kazoos welcome!

Oh, the sharing! Thanks, friends!

Your plans for the weekend?

As we are getting the final details pulled together, we need to know your plans for the wedding weekend! Please send us an e-mail (carolynandmatt@gmail.com) when you are coming into Breckenridge, where you are staying, and which meals you'd like to join us for.

We have planned meals and good old fashioned fun for:

  • Friday night -- Eat-when-you-get-there dinner and games
  • Saturday morning -- Late morning brunch with Jim's beer pancakes
  • Saturday afternoon -- Hot chocolate happy hour and live musical entertainment/jam session
  • Saturday evening -- Wedding rehearsal, dinner, and games (all are invited for dinner and games!)
  • Sunday afternoon -- The WEDDING! followed by drinks and an early dinner

Because it is a small wedding, everyone is invited to everything! But you are not expected to come to every bit of the weekend, snowboarders especially. Just let us know what you'll be attending, so that we can plan accordingly.

Address for the Wedding

The address for the Red Eagle Lodge is:

297 State Road 628
Breckenridge, CO. 80424

Click here for a map from Breckenridge to the Red Eagle Lodge.

FYI: The house is about 6 miles beyond the ski resort and town of Breckenridge. The roads are paved most of the way there, but the last few turns to the house are on dirt road. However, it may be pretty snow packed. We have been there in a front wheel drive vehicle and it was fine. But please do not pull down the steep drive way of the house unless you have a 4-wheel or AWD vehicle. There is some parking available on the street.
